The Padma Multipurpose Bridge is a two- position road– rail ground across the Padma River, the main distributary of the Ganges in Bangladesh. It connects Shariatpur and Madaripur, linking the southwest of the country to the northern and eastern regions. The ground was inaugurated on 25 June 2022.
Considered to be the most grueling construction design in the history of Bangladesh, the sword stilt ground carries a four- lane trace on the upper position and a single track road on a lower position. The ground consists of 41 sections, each150.12 m(492.5 ft) long and22.5 m( 74 ft) wide, with a total length of6.241 km(3.878 mi). It’s the longest ground in Bangladesh, the longest ground over the swash Ganges by both span and total length, and features the loftiest pile depth of any ground in the world at 120 m( 390 ft).
The ground, when commissioned, is anticipated to boost the GDP of Bangladesh by as important as1.2 percent.
